Where are we at?

Where are we at?

Postby ScrapMetal » Sun Feb 05, 2012 8:16 pm

I lost a post by rleete (Sorry) asking what the status is of the build. He asked a good question. I've been told the bases are done, the pistons are done, pistons need to be fitted to cylinders (which are ready I think). There's a slacker who doesn't have the crank discs quite ready (me  ) and as for the rest? Not real sure.

How about it guys?

A couple of build members are missing from here. As far as my parts, which are axle and pins, they are done ready to ship when ready. David U. was to fit pistons to cylinders when he got them from 4R8. Turbo's frames are done, Hawkeye's main bearings are done and JGEDDE'S flywheel is done and that is all I am sure of right now.

Thanks for the update. Anyone have any pics to share?

What do people have planned as far as a base? Just the plain metal plate, or something decorative?

I might try to do a nice walnut base since I have a trailer full. Been aging for years, dont know its condition as of now.

Walnut would look very nice, have a nice contrast with all the shiny metal. Do you do much woodworking along those lines? My own "wood skills" are somewhat deficient in that area. I have a lot of carpentry experience and years of building (balsa) radio control aircraft but very little in the way of finish work, cabinetry, etc.

Anyone have pics of parts they want to share? I have the "attachments" fixed as well as the posting length. 8-)

I believe that we are getting very close to having all the major parts fabricated. I'm thinking that it's time to figure out where we stand on things.

To the best of my recollection (that's a scarey one ;) ) here is who I have making what:

Pjf134 - Paul - Axles and pins
4R8 - Jason - Pistons
Hawkeye - Mike - Main bearings
JGedde - John G. - Flywheels
Turbinedoctor - Durwood - Frames
Scrapmetal - Ron P.- Crank discs
B34VD - William - Bases
David - David U. - Cylinders and caps
